SMEs in Figures

In 2009 the SME share in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) has made 42.5% in comparison with 41.7% of 2008 and is twice as much as the same indicator of 1999.

The SME share in the country’s export volume has also increased and made 17.7% in 2009, versus 17.9% recorded in 2008 and 17.4% in 2007

As of January 01, 2010 SMEs made 97.7% of the registered legal entities and sole proprietors with total number of 132,923.

The SME Development Index, calculated by the UN methodology, constituted 404.7 in 2009, which is 7 times as much as that of 2002.

Doing Business: Businesswoman makes European standard cosmetic products out of Armenian mountainous plants

ENGLISH VERSION BY ARMENPRESS.The 45-year-old Zaruhi Andreasyan established her company “Innovative Technologies Center” in 1998, making cosmetic products out of plants. They produced skin care products. After that the Company began exporting its natural products, first to Ukraine, from where Zaruhi got positive feedback. After that they decided to expand the sorts of the care means, thus making the number of the kinds of the creams to 12. The creams have not only care function, but also pain relieving and healing properties.
