Study tour organised for young Armenian wine growers to Austria (28 May-1 June)
Upon the initiative of the International Communications Department of the Press and Information Service of the Vienna Municipality, 12 young Armenian wine growers/makers, mostly from the Armenian State Agrarian University, took part in a study tour from 28 May to 1 June 2012.
Supported by the Vienna Consortium for Development Initiatives (VCDI) and the Austrian PAN PLAN Consulting firm, the Armenian Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Center (SME DNC) collaborated on this initiative.
During the Study Tour, the participants
- Visited various wine schools, vineyards, wine producers and wine cellars in most of the wine growing places, such as Auersthal, Klosterneuburg, Langenlois, Rohren near Krems, Krems, Eisenstadt, Trausdorf, Kaindorf, Silberberg, Cobenzl, Vienna, Stift Göttweig, etc.;
- Acquired hands on information on the planting, growing, production, bottling, preserving, promoting and marketing of the various Austrian wine assortments; and
- Exchanged experiences and established cooperation venues with several Austrian wine producers and sellers.
At a concluding ceremony, the young winemakers were welcomed by the Armenian Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Dr. Arman Kirakossian, Mrs. Heidemaria Guerer, Head of the Department of Eastern Europe and South Caucasus of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the newly designated Ambassador of Austria to Armenia and Uzbekistan, Dr. Alois Kraut, and certificates of attendance were distributed to the participants.
