SME DNC of Armenia Plans to Develop Tourism in Areni. Exxecutive Director's Visit to Vayots Dzor
Levon Mnatsakanyan, Executive Director of the SME DNC of Armenia, introduced Souren Gasparyan Branch Manager to the regional staff members during his official visit to Vayots Dzor region . In their talks, it was decided to deepen the collaboration with the Municipality of Vayk and the Regional government of Vayots Dzor. Levon Mnatsakanyan urged closer attention to be paid to the proposal of RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, to discover and present economic development and investment ideas for the region.
"It is important to pay attention to the monitoring of SME DNC's beneficiaries", SME DNC executive director said ]. Gasparyan and Mnatsakanyan discussed the issues that for the development the Vayots Dzor branch. Garnik Manukyan, local coordinator for the SME DNC and Japan International Cooperation Agency's (JICA) joint " Development of Local Production and Promotion of Local brands -Phase 2" and Seno Ryuiji, head of the project expert group, , also participated in the meeting. Mr. Ryuiji shared some practical advices to promote efficiency in the office.
The regional branch staff members also discussed the new developing and introducing of new methods to support entrepreneurs. the number of hotels and dried fruit factories in the region has grown over the past two years. According to Gasparyan, the confidence of the business community towards the SME DNC has also improved.
In Areni, Levon Mnatsakanyan met with Raffi Khachatryan, the mayor of Areni community. They discussed the cooperation activities and the ways of increasing the support. Khachatryan expressed his gratitude for new winery and tourism enterprises operating in the community, established after SME DNC implemented projects in Areni. He also stressed that there is a severe lack of the hotels in Areni. Constructing an information center for the needs of the tourists and local business is essential. "We have a genuine problem in Areni, and that is convincing tourists to stay in Areni and enjoy all the village has to offer. Many visit for the day, enjoy the village, take part in the festival, but leave for Yerevan or Vayk afterwards", said Khachatryan.
Mnatsakanyan and his delegation met Vardan Simonyan, the owner of "Areni One" winery. Simonyan has benefited from the support of the SME DNC and JICA's joint "Development of Local Production and Promotion of Local Brands" project's first phase. Simonyan discussed the development of new prospects, opportunities and technologies for his winery with Mnatsakanyan.
