In the scope of cooperation the SME DNC and GIZ have join and streamline efforts with special focus on start-ups’ support and local economic development activities through capacity building of SME DNC and transfer of knowledge for the implementation of the following tools: Competency Based Economies through Formation of Enterprise (CEFE) and Participatory Appraisal of Competitive Advantages (PACA).
CEFE is a comprehensive set of training instruments using an action-oriented approach and experiential learning methods to develop and enhance the business management and personal competencies of a wide range of target groups, mostly in the context of income and employment generation and economic development.CEFE has proven to be a very successful approach for promotion of small and medium enterprises, employment, income and economic growth. It has been introduced in 150 countries during the last twenty years.
PACA combines competitiveness concepts with the principles of rapid / participatory appraisal in order to identify quickly implementable activities to stimulate a local economy. It is not aiming at grand strategies and big projects, but rather at practical approaches to remedying local market failures which so far stand in the way of business growth.
Main activities of the cooperation:
* CEFE training of trainers (ToT) courses for SME DNC’s staff;
* Implementation of pilot CEFE training courses in selected regions of Armenia;
* Introduction of PACA methodology and other LRED tools.
