Two new guesthouses opened in Lori region of RA with the support of the European Union and SME DNC

Garik Khachikyan, who has been engaged in business for several years, and start-up entrepreneur Vazgen Khachikyan seeing the potential of Lori region as a tourism destination because of historical/cultural heritage, picturesque nature, as well as new adventure tourism services, such as rafting, have decided to provide accommodation services in Akhtala community, where there is luck of such offers.

They have established a hostel located not far from the interstate M6 highway and close to St. Akhtala Monestry and Mary the Virgin's Church (11-13 century), where a lot of tourist are visiting. 

To be more confident in starting-up a new business they have participated in the “Successful Start” start-up business support program in June-August 2018. They have enriched their knowledge and  skills in entrepreneurship and gained comprehensive knowledge in management, marketing and in other important aspects of doing business.

The hostel can accommodate 16 persons. Along with the accommodation services the hostel will offer guided tours, transportation and other services. By own resources beneficiary has renovated the facility and by means of the credit and grant funds has purchased furniture and installed solar panels.  

 

Start-up entrepreneur Sose Matinyan seeing the flow of tourist in Lori marz, existing demand for accommodation services, as well as considering the favorable position of her house, has decided to start hospitality activities in Alaverdi city and establish a B&B.

For that business she has an appropriate building with beautiful view, area for parking, a large area that can provide overnight stay to tourists with sleeping bags. In the surrounding area there are historical and cultural monuments. To be more confident in starting-up a new business she has participated in the “Successful Start” start-up business support program in April-June 2018. She has enriched her knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship and gained comprehensive knowledge in management, marketing and in other important aspects of doing business.

Her business plan has been evaluated as feasible and approved for further financing.

By means of credit and grant funds Sose has purchased necessary equipment and installed heating system.  Along with the bed and breakfast she is planning to provide additional hospitality services, such as fishing, cooking own meals, participation in farming and harvesting, watching beekeepers and honey squeezing, wine making activities, organize seminars, visit of yoga groups, etc. In future Sose Matinyan intends to provide also bicycle and horse riding services. The guest house can accommodate 6-7 persons. This guest house, besides accommodation will have swimming pool, sauna, bar on the first floor. There will be an entertainment corner for kinds, table games, molbert, etc.
